The Accessibility Advisory Council Public Consultation on Accessibility Legislation Live Video Webcast

May 8th, 2012 at 1:00 PM (CDT)

On June 16, 2011, the Manitoba Legislature passed The Accessibility Advisory Council Act. The Act established the Accessibility Advisory Council (Council), giving it the authority to make recommendations to the Minister on steps to promote equality and remove barriers for Manitobans with disabilities. As a first step, the Council is proposing accessibility legislation that will move us towards a more inclusive society for all Manitobans.

The Council is actively seeking public input on accessibility legislation. The Accessibility Advisory Council Discussion Paper on Accessibility Legislation has been designed to foster that discussion. The public is invited to participate in a public consultation and/or send written submissions and briefs to the Council. A final report will be submitted to the Minister of Family Services and Labour, the Honourable Jennifer Howard, by June 16, 2012. Please send your comments by June 5th to ensure they are received prior to the preparation of the Council’s initial recommendations.
